Who we are

Hastro (hastro.date) is operated by Honeydreams Softwares, a sole proprietorship registered in India (GSTIN 07AYVPS6067Q1Z1), at D’Decor, 639/A, Spring House Co-working, Najafgarh Road, Janakpuri, New Delhi 110058, India. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), Honeydreams Softwares is the data controller (data fiduciary) for the processing described here. In short

Hastro is a calculation service. Almost everything you do on it happens without an account. Your settings live in your own browser. The details you type in to compute a panchang, muhurat or kundali are used to compute the answer and are not tied to you. We use analytics only if you say yes. We never sell personal data and we show no advertising.

What we collect and why

1. Server access logs

When you load a page or call the API, our reverse proxy and application record the request path, time, response status, the user agent string, and the IP address forwarded by Cloudflare. Purpose: security, abuse and rate-limit enforcement, and debugging. Legal basis (GDPR): legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f). Retention: logs rotate automatically and are kept for a short rolling period, normally under 30 days.

2. Analytics, only with your consent

If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) with IP anonymisation enabled. It records pages viewed, approximate region, device type and a few interaction events such as “download PDF”. If you decline or do not answer, nothing from Google is loaded. Legal basis: consent, Article 6(1)(a); you can withdraw it at any time with the “Change cookie choice” button below. Retention: Google Analytics event data is kept for 14 months.

3. Settings stored in your browser

Your language, chosen place, month system, sunrise definition, theme, muhurat preferences, the birth details you type for a personal report, and your cookie choice are stored in your browser’s local storage so they survive a reload. They never leave your device except as parameters of a calculation request (see 4). Clear your browser’s site data to remove them.

4. Calculation inputs

To compute a panchang, festival list, muhurat or kundali we receive the coordinates, time zone, dates and settings you choose, and for a kundali or personal muhurat report the birth date, time, place and, optionally, a name. Purpose: computing and returning the result you asked for. Legal basis: performance of the service you request, Article 6(1)(b), and, for birth details, your consent given by entering them. Retention: inputs are processed in memory and are not stored against you. A copy of the computed result, keyed by the inputs, is cached for up to 30 days so that a repeat of the same request is instant; the cache is not linked to any account or identifier of yours. Do not enter another person’s birth details without their permission.

5. Waitlist and free-trial signups

If you join the waitlist or request a free trial we store the email address, and any name, phone number and note you give, with the time. Purpose: telling you about the service you asked about. Legal basis: consent. Retention: until you ask us to remove it, and at most 12 months after the service you signed up for has launched or been withdrawn.

6. Contact form and problem reports

Messages sent through the contact form or the “Report a problem” dialog are stored with your email (if given), the page and settings you were on, and your browser’s user agent string, and forwarded to us by email through Resend. Crash reports are sent automatically when the app hits an error and contain the error text and page, not the values you entered. Purpose: answering you and fixing the problem. Legal basis: legitimate interests and, where you give contact details, consent. Retention: up to 24 months.

7. Accounts and API keys

Some features, such as reminders for personal dates, require an account with an API key. For those users we store the email or phone number used to create the account, saved birth details, personal date rules and a log of reminders sent. Purpose: providing the feature. Legal basis: performance of a contract. Retention: for the life of the account; deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.

8. Bot protection

Forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which examines browser signals to tell people from bots. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie. Legal basis: legitimate interests in preventing abuse.

Cookies

Hastro sets one cookie of its own: a signed session cookie used only for the site owner’s login. Everything else is browser local storage as described above. Google Analytics cookies are set only after you consent. Cloudflare may set security cookies such as __cf_bm. To change your analytics choice, use the button below or clear the site’s local storage.

Who we share data with

We use these processors, each bound by a data processing agreement:

• Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany: server hosting. All stored data lives in Germany.
• Cloudflare, Inc.: DNS, CDN, caching, DDoS protection and Turnstile. Traffic passes through Cloudflare’s global network.
• Google Ireland Ltd: Google Analytics 4, only with your consent.
• Resend, Inc., United States: sending transactional emails such as contact-form forwards and reminders.

We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build profiles. We disclose data when the law requires it.

International transfers

Our servers are in the European Union. We, the operator, are in India and access the data from there. Where the GDPR applies to you, that access is based on your explicit consent and on the necessity of performing the service you requested (Article 49(1)(a) and (b)). Transfers to Cloudflare and Resend in the United States rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the Standard Contractual Clauses they offer. We have not appointed an EU or UK representative under Article 27, relying on the exemption for occasional, small-scale, low-risk processing; you can reach us directly at [email protected].

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a supervisory authority.

• India (DPDP Act): access, correction, erasure, grievance redressal and the right to nominate someone to exercise your rights. Complaints may be taken to the Data Protection Board of India.
• EU and UK (GDPR): the rights above plus data portability; you may complain to your national supervisory authority or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
• California (CCPA/CPRA) and similar US state laws: the right to know, delete and correct, and not to be discriminated against for exercising rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising.

Grievance Officer

Grievances are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days.

Security

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. API keys are stored as hashes. Access to the server and database is limited to the operator. No method is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

Hastro is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without a parent’s or guardian’s verifiable consent as the DPDP Act requires, or under 16 where the GDPR applies. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We will post any change to this policy on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be announced on the site.
