Choghadiya divides the day and the night into eight parts each, labelled Amrit, Shubh, Labh, Chal, Udveg, Rog and Kaal. It is the everyday muhurat table used across Gujarat, Rajasthan and the North.

How the table is built
The time from sunrise to sunset is cut into eight equal parts of about ninety minutes, and so is the night. The first part of the day belongs to the lord of the weekday, and the sequence then follows the order of the planets: Sun (Udveg), Venus (Chal), Mercury (Labh), Moon (Amrit), Saturn (Kaal), Jupiter (Shubh), Mars (Rog). Night begins with the fifth lord from the day’s.
Amrit, Shubh and Labh are auspicious; Chal is neutral, good for travel; Udveg, Rog and Kaal are avoided. The Kaal choghadiya of a weekday coincides with Rahu Kaal on some days but not all.

FAQ
Are choghadiya times the same everywhere?
No, they follow local sunrise and sunset. A city 500 km east sees the whole table about half an hour earlier.
What is Vaar Vela, Kaal Vela and Kaal Ratri?
Additional periods some panchangs mark within choghadiya as inauspicious. Hastro does not apply them by default.
